- Dr. Messanvi is a neuroanatomist and behavioral neuroscientist interested in the neurochemical modulation of brain circuits involved in cognition. Her lab investigates the concerted actions of neurotransmitters and neuropeptides with a particular focus on the locus coeruleus. A major project is to understand the mechanisms underlying the coordinated release of the locus coeruleus’ multiple transmitters and peptides and their interactions in multiple brain areas. The techniques used include neuroanatomical tracing, behavioral tasks, neural circuits’ activity recording and manipulation.
