Office of Sponsored Programs 4801 Massachusetts Ave Washington, DC 20016 United StatesFunding Announcements
There are a number of external funding opportunities available to researchers at American University. We have created a searchable database of possible opportunities with descriptions and links. Please copy the link and paste it into your web browser to view the announcement on the sponsor's website.
For other funding resources, check out the Hanover resources page. The Office of Research has partnered with Hanover to expand research resources to the AU community. These resources include funding alerts for a wide range of federal and non-federal opportunities, grant calendars that are focused on specific fields of discipline, informative webinars on subjects such as early career and mid-career funding opportunities, research writing strategies, and much more.
Hanover also provides the Grant Learning Center that is designed to guide faculty through various stages of developing competitive proposals. At present, courses being offered by Hanover include National Institutes of Health: A Series of Opportunities and NSF CAREER: The Faculty Early Career Development Program.
Information on other funding databases such as Pivot, can be found in Research Central.
Limited Submissions
Some federal and private sponsoring agencies limit the number of proposals or applications an institution (or components of the institution) may submit for funding consideration. Therefore, it is necessary for American University to have a limited submission policy to establish an appropriate process for determining which proposal(s) is/are the most competitive with regard to the agency’s call. Sponsors vary on how they impose such a limitation.
