Gender Justice Clinic
Student attorneys in the Gender Justice Clinic represent clients in a wide range of cases including family law, immigration, public benefits, domestic violence, housing, wills/advance directives/probate, and other court, administrative and transactional matters – including cases that can’t be neatly categorized – with a focus on how clients’ gender, race, nationality, disability, and economic status affect their experiences in the legal system and within the lawyer-client relationship.

Our Areas of Focus
GJC is a collaborative and supportive learning environment that focuses on core lawyering skills such as interviewing, counseling, negotiation, drafting, strategic planning and litigation/trial skills. Student attorneys have primary responsibility for handling all aspects of representation. We explore lawyering, legal systems and advocacy through the lens of gender, race, and class and examine the role of the lawyer, the lawyer-client relationship and client-centered representation. Student attorneys gain transferable experience and a valuable credential for employment.
