Prof. Eduardo Bertoni, recently appointed Director of the Center of Human Rights And Humanitarian Law, was invited by the Council of Europe's BUREAU OF THE CONSULTATIVE COMMITTEE OF THE CONVENTION FOR THE PROTECTION OF INDIVIDUALS WITH REGARD TO AUTOMATIC PROCESSING OF PERSONAL DATA (Convention 108) to discuss the impact of the use of Neurotechnologies in human rights. For this meeting was also invited Prof. Marcello Ienca, from the School of Medicine and Health, Technical University of Munich. 

 Prof. Bertoni's presentation was mainly focused on the current regulatory initiatives on neurotechnology. After mentioned many Human Rights treaties and Declarations, he also highlighted that it is not necessary to create new rights because current human rights treaties cover neurotechnologies activities in the body. 

The Bureau took note of the information and presentation provided by the experts, and held an exchange of views and discussed the necessary follow-up.

The Bureau meeting was held in Paris at the Counci of Europe Offices on March 14th.
