Professor Diego Rodriguez-Pinzon was invited to participate as a speaker in the “Meeting on Good Practices and Advocacy for Implementation and Compliance of International Recommendations on Human Rights" held in Guatemala.
The event brought non-governmental organizations of El Salvador to discuss how civil society organizations can use the international human rights mechanisms available for El Salvador in the United Nations human rights system. Prof. Rodriguez-Pinzon made a presentation about the ways in which CSOs can work in the implementation of recommendations issued in the UN treaty body system, and specifically the tools and techniques that can be deployed regarding the recommendations of the UN Committee against Torture, where he as a member until recently.
The UNCAT recently reviewed the State periodic report of El Salvador and the workshop offered a space to brainstorm about the different alternatives that exist in the implementation of the Concluding Observations issued by this UN Committee. Participants in the event included Alberto Brunori, Regional Representative of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights for Central America and the Caribbean, and several other international experts.
