ABOUT THE SPEAKER
Shawn Turskey is the Senior Principal Security Engineer at Snap. Prior to his role at Snap, Turskey held several roles at Meta including Acting D/CISO MFT Intel, Ops, and Investigations & the Global Director Security at Meta Financial Technologies and an Individual Contributor in Integrity, Investigations, and Intelligence.
Turskey joined the private sector after an impressive career at the National Security Agency (NSA). Turskey began in the Signals Intelligence Directorate leading NSA's voice processing efforts and then moved to Tailored Access Operations (TAO) with a specific focus on cyber tool development, analysis, and operations for Computer Network Exploitation (CNE), to include two years leading operations in TAO's Remote Operations Center (ROC). Turskey then moved to the Threat Operations Center (NTOC) leading efforts to analyze and attribute malicious cyber actors. Turkey then moved to serve as the Defensive Operations Lead for The Remote and Deployed Operations (RDO) Group. Turskey ultimately served as the NSA Rep to the Department of Homeland Security, strengthening the relationship between NSA and CISA.
In 2014, Turskey became the Executive Director of US Cyber Command which represented the highest-ranking-civilian and third-in-command. Turskey led across an organization of over 12K personnel, to include a HQs element, six large Service Cyber Components, 133 Cyber Mission Force Teams consisting of over 6K cyber warriors, and Department of Defense enterprise defense forces.
